Greetings All,

For your consideration:
~
(No. 7208 ) [U.S. Army, Far East Command]. THE IMPERIAL JAPANESE NAVY IN
WORLD WAR II: A GRAPHIC PRESENTATION OF THE JAPANESE NAVAL ORGANIZATION AND
LIST OF COMBATANT AND NON-COMBATANT VESSELS LOST OR DAMAGED IN THE WAR
(JAPANESE OPERATIONAL MONOGRAPH SERIES, NO. 116).
[Tokyo?]: Military History Section, Special Staff, General Headquarters, Far
East Command, 1952. First printing, Full cloth, Oblong folio, [xii], 279
pages, Charts, graphs, maps. Good.
A remarkable distillation of available data on the Japanese Navy in
World War II, originally prepared by former Japanese Naval officers under
supervision of the 2nd Demobilization Bureau (Navy) and then translated into
English by the Allied Translator and Interpreter Service, General
Headquarters, Far East Command. Because most of the original Japanese
orders, plans and unit journals were lost or destroyed during field
operations, bombing raids, etc., the information herein had to be
painstakingly compiled from wartime diaries, battle reports, documents and
reports of the Civil Merchant Marine Commission and individual ship owners,
transcripts of radio transmissions, interrogations, statements, and private
records of personnel concerned, etc. Gives the organizations of the Japanese
naval and naval air fleets, general escort command, submarine forces, naval
ship divisions, and naval air groups and airfield units, along with
information on losses. Information goes down to the level of individual
vessels. Bound in black cloth over boards with silver foil-stamped title to
upper board. Minor extremity rubs, prior owner name penned at top of front
pastedown, "Japanese Monograph #116" penned at top of title page,
unobtrusive Library of Congress duplicate stamp on front free endpaper.
Binding is a bit shaken. $350.00
