Another fine item from our list of New Arrivals for the New York Book
Fair to be posted on our web site tomorrow. The list will also
feature much early printing including several incunables, scarce
Modern First Editions, and superb Signed Books as well as other gems.
We will be residing in Booth B-27 for all those who visit this Friday
through Sunday at the armory on Park Ave. & 67th St. in New York.
POTTER, Beatrix. THE TALE OF SQUIRREL NUTKIN. London:
Frederick Warne & Co. 1903. First Edition. First Issue.
Publisher's gray paper-covered boards with a circular
pictorial color paste-on of Squirrel Nutkin to the center of
the front board. Illustrated throughout in color by Potter.
This copy of an early Potter book is nicely INSCRIBED and
SIGNED by the author in the center blank portion of the
pictorial front free endpaper: "For Norah,/with love
from/Beatrix Potter./Sept. 2nd 1903." Expertly rebacked with
most of the original spine laid down. Marginal stain to the
very bottom of about half the pages. Very Good or better and
quite scarce when signed by Potter. $8500
