[JEFFERS, Robinson] JEFFERS, John Robinson. FLAGONS AND
APPLES. Los Angeles: Grafton Publishing Company 1912. First
Edition. Cloth-backed boards with paper labels. Poet's
scarce first book, printed in an edition of only 500 copies
at Jeffers's own expense, 480 of which were sold by the
printer to a San Francisco used bookstore. INSCRIBED and
SIGNED by the author on the front endpaper: "This rather
absurd little book is inscribed/for Herman A.
Oriel--/Cordially,/Robinson Jeffers./Tor House, Carmel,
California./December,12 1939." Some foxing to endpapers but
with no real detrimental effect on the inscription. The
label on the front cover is intact, the spine label nearly
so with a little chipping. Some spotty erosion to the cloth
spine but not terrible. Very Good or better with a fine
inscription. $2000.00
