CHAMBERSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA (WITH A PLAN OF THE BURNT PORTION OF THE TOWN).
Philadelphia: Lindsay & Blakiston, 1864. Full cloth, Duodecimo, [2], iv,
5-76, [2] pages, frontispiece map. Fair.
      Schneck was an "eye-witness and a sufferer" in this incident, and
gives his account of this Confederate retaliation, accompanied by
"corroborative statements" from several other prominent citizens of the
town. This edition has the map of Chambersburg showing the areas ordered
burnt by Confederate General Early, with several of the lost buildings
located on the map by numbers. DORNBUSCH III, #2297. Bound in green cloth
over boards with gilt-stamped upper board. Extremity rubs and mild fraying,
some spotting to covers, mild foxing throughout, hinges weak but not broken.
Rear free endpaper has a large piece torn away, numerous contemporary
pencilled names, etc., on endpapers.    $50.00
