CHANDLER, Raymond. FAREWELL, MY LOVELY. New York:
Alfred A. Knopf 1940. First Edition. Chandler's second novel,
a Haycraft-Queen cornerstone and basis for two films: the
1944 MURDER, MY SWEET and the much better 1975 FAREWELL, MY
LOVELY featuring Robert Mitchum in the role of a lifetime as
Philip Marlowe. A clean copy but for three store stamps, one
on the verso of the rear free endpaper and two on the rear
pastedown. The dustwrapper is mostly complete except for an
inch and a quarter piece missing at the bottom of the spine
and the top and bottom edges both trimmed an eighth of an
inch, not affecting the price or any text. In addition both
the front and rear inside flaps are glued to the pastedowns.
Very Good in a scarce, albeit apologetic dustwrapper.
                                                            $2000.00
