(INCUNABULA) Diogenes Laertius. VITAE ET SENTENTIAE PHILOSOPHORUM. (Venice: 
[Bonetus Locatellus] for Octavianus Scotus. Dec. 18, 1490). 4to. ff.(112). 
Roman type. Woodcut initial letters. In a fine contemporary Italian binding of 
full calf, stamped in blind with two decorative frames surrounding a central 
tooled panel. A well preserved binding except for very slight repairs at spine 
extremities. This copy with numerous notes and marginalia in a neat contemporary 
hand. Some old faded water stains at the very fore-edge of some leaves. Housed 
in a cloth case.     $7,500.00 (trade discount allowed)
An important text for our knowledge of the ancient philosophers including 
Aristotle, Theophrastus, Pythagoras, Epicurus, Galen, Plato, Euclid, Pliny, etc., 
etc. This edition was translated from the Greek by A. Traversarius and edited
