ff.(8),204. Title and every page of text within a woodcut border. Text illus. 
with 100 fine woodcut portraits of the great men of the 16th century, by Tobias 
Stimmer. Cont. tooled pigskin, with a central stamped portrait on both 
covers. The binding is dated “1594” with the initials “ORG” on the front cover. 
Top of spine chipped. Text with some moderate damp staining (mostly quite 
faded). Some text soiling. One woodcut portrait hand colored.     $3,500.00 (trade 
discount allowed)
First edition. Not the finest copy, but respectable and complete. This book 
is often lacking some of the portraits. The subjects include Luther, Calvin, 
Erasmus, Agrippa, Paracelsus, Copernicus, Vesalius, Sebastian Muenster, etc.,
