MEN OF MARYLAND IN CARICATURE.
Baltimore: (Norman T. A. Munder & Co.), 1915. First printing, Flexible
suede, Quarto, [vi], 425, [6] pages, Cartoon drawings. Good.
      A wonderful collection of full page pen and ink cartoon portraits of
Maryland's most prominent lawyers, doctors, teachers, administrators,
politicians, and businessmen in 1915. Includes men such as Attorney General
Edgar Allan Poe, Baltimore Mayor James H. Preston, Percy Thayer Blogg,
Swepson Earle, and about 421 others. Each of the amusing drawings portrays
not only the man but usually also something of his business and recreation
activities. Bound in the style and manner of the Roycrofters books of the
period, with flexible suede covered covers, fabric covered pastedowns, top
edge gilt, and gilt title on front cover. Published in the year that Elbert
Hubbard and his wife were killed on the Lusitania, the foreword is "By the
Late Elbert Hubbard." Covers have edge wear and some discoloration, with
chips and rubs at extremities. Endpapers browned. Interior is sound with
occasional finger soil. Indexed by name at rear.    $100.00
