Published as Volume 4 of the Janua Linguarum Series Minor, Chomsky's 
first book grew out of his notes for an undergraduate course he was 
teaching and set off a revolution in linguistics as it radically 
opposed the entire Harris-Bloomfield tradition and instead emphasized 
the idea that there are systems underlying linguistic structure which 
are the results of our genes. From this beginning emerged the entire 
field of cognitive science.

Wrappers darkened at the edges, especially at the spine with some 
staining at the joints, owner's name to half-title, otherwise a very 
good unmarked copy of this extremely important work.   $275.00
