We offer for Sale:
[23633] Anscombe, G.E.M. [Gertrude Elizabeth Margaret]. INTENTION.
Oxford: Basil Blackwell, 1958. ix, [1], [1], [1], 93 pp. 8vo. Printed
green paper wrappers over white card stock (paperback). First
edition, second impression.
First work by the great British philosopher, G. E. M. Anscombe
(1919-2001) who studied under the Austrian-born British philosopher
Ludwig Wittgenstein. J. M. Cameron in New Republic called her "simply
the most distinguished, intellectually formidable, original, and
troublesome philosopher in sight." This second impression, the first
was published in 1957 based on lectures at Cornell, contains a few
alterations from the original.
Wrappers darkened at the edges, small tears at spine ends, owner's
signature to free endpaper, otherwise quite clean and crisp, and
overall a very good copy of this scarce classic. $200.00

Charles Kutcher
