Troy, NY: Regal Art Press, 1962 & 1967. First printings, Full cloth, Octavo,
xxiv, 182, [blank], xxv-xxvi, 183-282 pages, Black & White photographs.
Good.
      Uncommon reference based on extensive research. The first volume was
published in 1962. The second volume, published in 1967, supplements the
first with over 70 additional makers not previously recorded as well as
additional information on over 30 of the makers in the first volume. Both
are bound together in this single volume. A typed transmittal letter/invoice
addressed to prior owner and signed by Smart's wife is laid in. Additional
material concerning a particular maker, Richard Rutt of Baltimore, is also
laid in. Bound in red cloth over boards with gilt stamped spine and upper
board lettering. Minor rubs and wrinkling to cloth edges at spine ends, some
spotting to cloth scattered mainly around board edges. Interior clean and
sound other than a small rust stain from a paperclip at top edge of 3
leaves.    $450.00
