10.	[Costume]Tonsberg, Nils Christian : NORSKE NATIONALDRAGTER TEGNEDE AF
FORSKJILLIGE NORSKE KUNSTMERE OF LEDSAGE DE MED OPLYSENDE TEXT.[Norwegian
National Costumes illustrated by the best Norwegian artists with

6, 54, 6 p., Complex Color with gold, pictorial title page and 33 FP color
plates of Norwegian national costumes ; 36 cm. The plates are all
lithographed and hand colored in intricate patterns. The 54 Pp. of text
consist of Norwegian, German and English text in parallel columns. There
are, as well, 6 Pp. of music at the end starting with works of the
celebrated Norwegian violinist Ole Bull and continuing with Norwegian folk
songs: Music: p. 1-6. There was one prior Norwegian costume book by Joachim
Frich, issued in 1847. However, this contained only 10 costume plates. It
is also more available, having been issued in facsimile in 1958. In our
book, the first plates 1-4 and 6 are taken from Frich's book which
was printed in Berlin. The remaining plates were drawn for this
publication by Eckersberg. They include plates of Lapps and of Finns. The
complex, decorative title page includes 5 symbols and devices of the
Norwegian monarchy. The text pages are often foxed, but not unpleasantly.
The plates, which all have plate guards, are untouched by the foxing,
except occasionally in the margins, only. Checking RLin and other sources
we have come up with 3 American locations. Colas 2893, Lipperheide 1059,

the remaining calf, original decorative modeled green and yellow flower and

water stain in the lower margin of most plates. With pictorial EPs showing
the Norwegian National arms, the EPs slightly brittle, OW VGood. $1025.00
