Williamsburg: Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, (1972). First printing, Full
cloth, Oblong Quarto, xii, 345 pages, black & white prints, maps,
illustrations. Near fine in a good dust jacket, Jacket in Mylar protector.
      Detailed study of the planned origins of towns in the Chesapeake Bay
colonies. Carefully documented and generously illustrated, with information
on English town planning traditions, Town Acts, Francis Nicholson and his
designs of Annapolis and Williamsburg, and many other towns including
Baltimore, Richmond, Centerville, Chestertown, St. Michaels, Alexandria,
Norfolk, etc. Good bibliography. Bound in tan and dark blue cloth over
boards with gilt stamped spine lettering, dark blue endpapers. Jacket has
rubs at edges of front panel, one of which extends into front panel
approximately 1". There is also a clean 2.5" horizontal knife cut in front
panel which is nearly invisible unless parted. All in all a very nice,
clean, and sturdy copy of this important work.    $145.00
