Amsterdam., 1657. Illustrated by A large and beautiful cartouche 
which has original hand-coloring,  depicting human figures symbolic 
of The Turkish Empire surrounded by The Roman Empire and what might 
represent the Orient. There are other pictorial vignettes also. 19 
1/2 x 23 1/2" including margins. Very good. Shows part of Africa, 
Mediterranean Sea, Indian Ocean, Arabia Deserta, Transylvania, 
Serbia, Bosnia and much more. Full margins, one repaired tear to fold 
at margin. Some minor soiling. Coloring still nice and bright. This 
is a two page map from Jansson's famous Novus Atlas and has 
explanatory information on the verso.  $750.00

2.  SLADE, ADOLPHUS.  RECORDS OF TRAVELS IN TURKEY, GREECE ETC AND OF 
A CRUISE IN THE BLACK SEA WITH CAPITAN PASHA IN 1829 1830 1831 (AND) 
TURKEY AND ITS RESOURCES, ITS MUNICIPAL ORGANIZATION AND FREE TRADE 
THE STATE AND PROSPECTS OF ENGLISH COMMERCE IN THE EAST THE NEW 
ADMINISTRATION OF GREECE ITS REVENUE AND NATIONAL POSSESSIONS. 
London., 1833. Illustrated by With 2 hand-colored frontises, folding 
map & facsimile plate. First edition. 2 volumes. Original publisher's 
fragile cloth with some chips. Has been somewhat repaired with 
closely matched cloth. Previous owner's blindstamp to title pages. 
Not from a circulating library, but there are pale numbers to preface 
pages and a shadow on each spine indicating the removal of a label. 
Attractive bookplates of former owner. Pages, map and plates clean 
and bright. They are unopened. Half-title pages are present. Very 
rare travel account.  $950.00
