1736. Engraved throughout Final leaf headed: The Coronets & Helmets used by 
the Nobility, &c Second leaf contains an advertisement with a list of 
engravers endorsing the work. Only one other English book of cyphers is in 
its class, Marlow's book od Cyphers of 1683. The work was meant as a group 
of patterns for craftsmen. The complexity and decorative beautiy of the 
desgins is extraprdinary, and it is quite rare.  Second Issue. A very fine 
example of a wholly etched English book. The only known copies of any 
edition [the first was 1726, and the latest 1755] are in the BL, except for 
one copy of our issue which is in the National Library of Scotland. 
Unlocated on OCLC. Page 14 containing as all the numbered pages doe, 4 
cyphers has been cut out, probably for easier use, and then restored to its 
place. Original calf, double gilt ruled lines, raised bands, black Mro. 
Title label, gilt,  front board rehinged. With the ownership signature of 
H.Elstob in the upper margin of the title page. A Fine copy. $2775.00
