North Carolina, Duke University Press, 1965-2002. 38 v. A consecutive run 
from the 1963 volume, the first in the series, through the volume for 2000. 
Annuals for 1963-66 and 1972-4 in printed wrappers, annuals for 1967-71 and 
1975-78 in dust jackets, and volumes 1979 to 2000 in black cloth, without 
dust jacket. Small stamped name of one of the contributors on the front 
endpaper of one volume. The wrappered annuals near fine, the others fine. 
Annuals 1963-88 largely edited by either James Woodress or J. Albert 
Robbins, many of the 1989-2000 issues edited by David J. Nordloh. From 
James Wood ress's Foreword to the initial volume: "It seemed to me that 
there was a real need for an annual review in which various scholars would 
survey the past year's work in American literature within their particular.
