text, French and English opposite. Illustrated with 29 half-page copper plate 
text engravings. Title printed in red & black. Finely bound by F. Bedford in 19th 
c. gilt decorated polished calf, red calf spine labels. Bookplates on front 
free endpaper and front pastedown (from the Huth Library). Hinges a bit rubbed.

The rare, first illustrated English edition of this work. The English text 
was first translated in 1729. The 1789 illustrated edition in English has 
appeared at auction a few times in the last 30 years, but never a copy of the 1736 
edition.
