The rare and important Manchester account of the trial of 'Orator'
Hunt and other radicals following the tragedy of the Peterloo
Massacre, seemingly unknown to the editors of the State Trials,
with a lengthy report of Hunt's motion for a new trial.

First edition of the work which John Baker recently termed "the
first printed treatise (worthy of the name) on the English law of
contract" and, in Holdsworth's words, was "an able book" . . .

First edition of Selden's most important effort to examine Jewish
law and, more broadly in the view of David Berkowitz, "a major work
and an ingenious attempt to construct an historical system of
natural law", subsequently of much interest to Vico.

A classic work, praised by Charles Beard and Charles Warren, among
others, bringing together and annotating the major documents in
church-state relations since American independence; "an

Represented as the first publication of "all of the substantial
Anti-Federal writings in their complete original form and in an
accurate text", together with Professor Storing's commentary and

label preserved, quite browned and foxed, but usable; with the

First edition of the first law treatise which we may definitely
attribute solely to Story, and marking the first correspondence
between Story and Jefferson, to whom Story sent a copy; arranged by
subject, with Story's notes following the pleas.

7.  [TAYLOR, Hannis].  A Paper Read by Mr. Hannis Taylor, of
Mobile, at the Third Annual Meeting of the Alabama State Bar
Association, upon the Subject of An Inter-State Code Commission. Printed by 
Smith & Armstrong, Montgomery, [1881].  Original printed
sewn wraps, quite chipped and darkened, a fragile survival; 16

The rare and seemingly first professionally published writing of
Taylor, delivered in behalf of the Committee on Jurisprudence and
Law Reform of the Association, of which he was elected President
about a decade later; no copy in OCLC, one in RLIN.

The first major response to the work of Selden which David
Berkowitz termed "his greatest work [and] one of the triumphs of
Renaissance learning", this second edition providing Tillesley's
further response to Selden's privately circulated reply.
