The Daughters of the Republic of Texas is the oldest patriotic women's
organization in Texas, and one of the oldest in America. It is composed
of women who are direct descendents of the men and women who established
the Republic of Texas. Founded in 1892, the D.R.T. is charged with the
responsibility of maintaining the Alamo. Contents include biographies, a
chapter on historic buildings in Texas, chapters on the various chapters
of the D.R.T., an extensive chapter on the Alamo, etc. etc. Ink
inscription dated "Dallas, 1948", on first blank page.
Scarce Texiana - no copies currently for sale on internet, and none
listed in OCLC. Only one copy shown in The Library of Congress, and two
copies shown in the D.R.T. Library at the Alamo in San Antonio, TX. A
subsequent volume,/ 90 Years of the Daughters: History of the Daughters
of the Republic of Texas/ was published in 1981 but appears to be
out-of-print.
