The Westerners Brand Book. Los Angeles Corrall: n.p, 1947. Profusely
illustrated. Quarto, brown cloth pictorially stamped in gilt, brown
leather spine lettered in gilt, pictorial dust jacket (worn). Very
lightly rubbed at lower spine, name in ink on front free endpaper,
else fine. First edition. One of 600 copies.
The scarce first Los Angeles Brand Book. $150.00
Pacific Coast Album. San Francisco: C. P. Heininger, n.d.. Octavo,
red cloth pictorially stamped in a floral pattern within a gilt
border, vignette of Cliff House and the bay in colours surrounded by
flowers, all in full colours, rear cover with heavily embossed
insignia of the State of California, patterned endpapers. Bright and
clear, fine.
The album contains 75 different images, some of which are of Yosemite
(12 views), Missions Santa Barbara and Carmel, the Lick Observatory,
Mojave Indians (about 5 views), Alcatraz in San Francisco, Bird's Eye
View of Leland Standford's University, Big Trees in Tuolumne, the
Tabernacle in Utah and many more. "The images are a photomechanical
pigment process where the original photographs are retouched and
partially bleached out. The printing is done by photo-litho (zinc) in
oil ink on metallic paper. Sky and highligts are printed in white"
