(No. 7491 )  Hale, William Kendrick. ROD OF IRON, VOLUME ONE.
Washington, D.C.: Hale Research Foundation, 1954. Full cloth, Oblong quarto,
[vi], 236 pages, Black & white drawings, diagrams. Very good.
      A very bizarre book by an author who believes himself to be Jesus
Christ reincarnated, and who "proves" it here through elaborate mathematical
gyrations in which letters are assigned numeric values. These mathematical
results are interpreted in combination with the author's unique "Hale
Universal Azimuthal Equidistant Map." Each page is reproduced from
hand-lettered text and hand-drawn diagrams. Hale ends his preface to all
this thusly: "I, the Lord have said it, and I shall do it. / William
Kendrick Hale. / 2 5 8 3 / My Seal". The book states "Volume One" on the
title page, but I strongly suspect that there were never any additional
volumes published. In any case they would not have been concurrent as Hale
speaks of other volumes in the future sense in his preface. Bound in black
cloth over boards with tan cloth spine, black spine titles, gilt-stamped
upper board. Minor edge wear, light browning to page edges, and some faint
brown dampstaining around lower inner margins of first several leaves.
