Original edition of the Selden Society's first annual volume, with
Maitland's substantial introduction, "set[ting] a high standard for
future editors", in John Baker's words, and permitting valuable
generalizations on the records of the Royal courts.

Once the copy of Edward Carson, the famed English barrister still
remembered for his cross-examination of Oscar Wilde and "possibly
. . . the finest orator of his day", with his dated ownership
signature ("Edward Carson / 1887") on the title.

The sole modern edition, comprised primarily of Wilson's law
lectures delivered while he was on the Court, and as the country's
first post-independence law professor; with a substantial
introduction and an extensive bibliography.

The only case we can find depicting the talents of Manomohan Ghose,
the one lawyer singled out by Ghandi for "defend[ing] many a poor
man free of charge", here saving a humble watchman who had been
sentenced to death due to official corruption.

The first English translation in a later edition, a work which
Holmes opined "probably has done as much to remodel the world as
any product of the eighteenth century [the reading of which] is one
of the last achievements of a studious life".

A rare trial, well reported, charging Stocks, a Yorkshire
magistrate, with perjury in perpetrating a large-scale commercial
fraud (securing 10,000 tons of coal to his own use), then seeking
to cover it up; one copy in RLIN, none in OCLC or KVK.

The portion of the monumental revision of the criminal law devoted
to the game laws, "exhaustive and complete [and] elaborate" in
Holdsworth's words, summarising and analysing the law from Magna
Carta forward and proposing reforming legislation.
