[Dickens, Chales] Sessler, Charles, Inc.

Medal produced by Charles Sessler, Inc., important Philadelphia (Dickens
specialist) dealer in books and prints, in commemoration of his firm's 50th
anniversary in 1932. The medal appears to be bronze and is approximately
3" in diameter. The front has a portrait of Charles Dickens, taken from a
photograph; the reverse has the scene that was used as the frontispiece
for A Christmas Carol. The medal is housed in a small case, covered in
blue cloth. Printed on the interior of the case is a statement referring to
Sessler's interest in Dickens and to a comment by A. Edward Newton
regarding A Christmas Carol.

The medal is in fine condition, as is the interior printing. The hinged
case is in fine condition mechanically, and the top of the cloth covering
is considerably abraded
