Only edition of a work extending the reach of the subject in which
Armour specialized (the law of real property in Canada) to the
vexed difficulties of property held by personal representatives
under the complexities of Canadian law and legislation.

First edition of one of two early American treatises on trademarks,
and the first following the seminal 1870 Congressional act, seeking
to encompass European and English authorites, and detailing the
1,100 marks registered under the 1870 legislation.

Abner Kneeland's famous if unsuccessful final appeal in "[t]he most
important and colorful of all American blasphemy cases", Kneeland
to become (after five trials) the only individual imprisoned in
19th century Massachusetts for blasphemy.

The third and last early edition of the first treatise on English
law, believed to have been written between 1187 and 1189, and for
which Maitland reserved the highest of praise, calling it "of great
value to students of legal and social history".

Original issuance of Hart's first separately published work, his
inaugural lecture given upon his election to the Chair of
Jurisprudence at Oxford (succeeding A.L. Goodhart), "put[ting] him
at once in controversy" and anticipating his Concept of Law.

An unusual account written by the "English Franklin", leavened with
humor and wisdom, describing the small claims court on which he
served, recounting in close-to-fable form some one hundred curious
and representative cases; with the half-title.

The original edition of the Selden Society's second annual volume,
chiefly inspired by Vinogradoff's work on the manor and printing
materials of which Maitland observed to Ames "I know no rolls more
interesting than the earliest manorial rolls".
