SCHLEIFER, JOHANN. DISTICHA EVANGELIORVM TOTIUS ANNICOMPENDIOSO CARMINE
NE DESCRIPTA A M. IOANNE SLEIFERO, POETA LAUREATO AC LURE
CONSULTO. [Wittenberg? ca.1570?] One gathering of 8 leaves, 5 1/2 X 3
1/2 inches, bound in a folded printed leaf with a hand-colored initial
letter, in Latin. Name written at foot of title page. Nice illustration on
title page of the faithful entering the gate of Heaven which is guarded by
an angel carrying a key; another illustration on the title page verso
showing the risen Jesus, mourners & Roman soldiers; other decorations + a
tailpiece of acorns & oak leaves. The dedication of this Latin poem is to
[Duke?] Christopher Albert & Elizabeth & to his fellow poet Johann
Christopher Fuchs in Wallenberg. The author is apparently unknown to
OCLC, RLIN & Adams. One copy of his "Elogiae ... Pauli Eberi Senioris",
Wittenberg, 1570, ( a short work of 5 leaves) is in the
Universitaetsbibliothek Augsburg.
