[ROYAL ARMS]. DOCTOR HOOPER'S FEMALE PILLS, PUBLISHED BY VIRTUE OF 
THE KING'S ROYAL LETTERS PATENT. . .  [London ? 1750 ?]
Single sheet printed on both sides, approx. 10 X 7 1/4 inches, British
revenue stamp on margin, slight wear.  The first side contains an 
abstract of the letters patent from George II, witnessed in type by 
the Archbishop of Canterbury.  The verso pulls out all the stops in 
recommending this product not only for women with "the green 
sickness" but as "excellent for palpitation of the heart, giddiness, 
loathing of food . . . pains of the stomach, a beating of the 
arteries of the neck . . . short breath, sinking of the spirits, a 
dejected countenance . . .  and likewise for the scurvey . . . a 
sovereign remedy either for men or women, in all hypopchondriac, 
histeric or vapourish disorders."
The seal by which these marvellous products can be identified is 
reproduced, and there are directions for their use.  They are "Sold 
by Butler & Crispe, 14, Charterhouse Buildings, Goswell Road,
