(No. 7877 )  McFarland, Raymond. THE MASTS OF GLOUCESTER: RECOLLECTIONS OF A
FISHERMAN.
New York: w. w. Norton & Company, Inc., (1937). Second printing, Full cloth,
Octavo, xii, 13-268 pages, Black & White photographs. Fine in a very good
dust jacket, Jacket in Mylar protector.
      First hand account of fishing from Hatteras to Newfoundland in one of
the last Gloucester sailing schooners. The author sailed under his uncle,
John McFarland, in the schooner Yosemite. Well illustrated with historic
photographs. Bound in coarse tan cloth over boards with dark blue stamped
spine and upper board, dark blue topstain, illustrated endpapers. Prior
owner's tasteful bookplate on front pastedown, concealed by jacket flap.
Dust jacket has small edge chips and rubs, a touch of browning along spine,
a small triangular flap torn along two sides but laid back down on spine,
and a 3/4" closed tear at bottom of lower joint fold. A very attractive
copy.    $50.00
