      Facsimile reprint of the 1780 edition of the classic "An Universal
Dictionary of the Marine
" Falconer based his dictionary on his lengthy
first-hand experience at sea. He was also a man of considerable literary
talent as shown by his generous and entertaining entries. Nicely illustrated
with detailed cuts and several double spread plates. Includes a separate
dictionary of "Phrases and Terms of Art in the French Marine." Bound in
green cloth over boards with gilt-stamped spine and upper board. Minor
extremity wear, touch of fading to spine. No prior ownership marks.
