vi,15-354 pages, Black and white frontistpiece engraving. Good.
      Dual campaign biography of the Republican candidates for president and
vice-president in 1860, compiled by the Washington correspondent of the New
York Independent and Evening Post. This imprint without the "(Authorized
Edition)" notice on title page and without the notifications and acceptances
included in later variants. See MONAGHAN #25; MILES #400; WESSEN #7; etc.
The original 150 page biography is here supplemented with a selection of
Lincoln speeches and the sketch of Hamlin. Frontispiece portrait of Lincoln
engraved on steel by R. S. Jones after a photograph by Matthew Brady. Bound
in original brown cloth with gilt and blind stamping, pale yellow endpapers.
Exterior boards are rubbed at edges, upper joint is split and chipped,
chipping at spine ends. Prior owner name label on front pastedown, initials
at top edge of front pastedown, name at top fore corner of front free
endpaper. Frontispiece portrait lacks tissue guard. Moderate foxing
throughout. Hinges sound.    $100.00
