and The Sequel entitled "The Usurper s Fate." London: Printed for Rest 
Fenner, 1817. First edition. Octavo. [8], 128 pp. With the half-title. "The 
form of the following dramatic poem is in humble imitation of the Winter s 
Tale of Shakespear, except that I have called the first part a Prelude 
instead of a first Act, as a somewhat nearer resemblance to the plan of the 
ancients, of which one specimen is left us in the Æschylian Trilogy of the 
Agamemnon, the Orestes, and the Eumenides" ("Advertisement" by Coleridge, 
p. [5]). Intended as a stage production but never realized on the boards. 
It was rejected for publication several times before this printing. After 
which it became quite popular and several editions were issued in 
combination with other works of his. It was also included in the Eragny 
Press selected Coleridge.  Ashley I, pp. 206-207. Wise, Coleridge, 
46.  19th century secondary binding. Gilt divisions to the boards in the 
17th century manner, raised bands, new red Mro. label, gilt, grey end 
papers, top edge gilt.Repair at hinge of front board. A very good copy. $650.00
