[COOPER, James Fenimore]. THE HEADSMAN; OR, THE ABBAYE DES
VIGNERONS. A TALE. Philadelphia: Carey, Lea & Blanchard 1833. First
Edition. Two volumes in the scarce original blue paper boards with
white paper shelfback and printed paper spine labels. BAL 3861, each
volume with a catalogue bound at the rear, state B (undetermined
sequence) of the catalogue at the rear of the second volume; Spiller
& Blackburn 17. Preceded by the London edition. Paper loss to the
head and heel of the spines, worse on the first volume where the loss
extends farther affecting the spine label, still mostly readable.
Boards of the second volume a little loose but cords still strong.
Small piece torn from front endpaper of first volume, most likely to
remove an owner's name. Scattered light to moderate foxing. Very Good
and scarce $850.00
