[NIGHTINGALE, Florence] ANDERSON, J. Wallace. LECTURES ON MEDICAL
NURSING DELIVERED IN THE ROYAL INFIRMARY, GLASGOW. Glasgow: James
Maclehose & Sons 1883. Second Edition. Original blue cloth; x, 224
pages. INSCRIBED and SIGNED in ink by the world's most famous nurse
on the front endpaper: "Miss Pirrie/with/Florence
Nightingale's/deepest & warmest/interest/London October 1885." Two
pages of text have brief pencil notes that appear to be in
Nightingale's hand. On page 6, Anderson notes that "universal
attention came to be directed to the proper care of the sick" as a
direct result of Nightingale's work in the Crimean War. Books
inscribed by Nightingale are quite uncommon, those with a connection
to nursing extremely so. Very Good or better $3500.00
