& Co. 1857. First edition. Sm. 8vo. (8),420pp. Half brown calf (circa 1900), 
black morocco spine label, over marbled boards, extremities of spine a bit 
scuffed. Two autograph notes signed by Thomas Hughes (trimmed & glued to heavy 
stock) have been mounted on the verso of the front free endpaper and a facing 
blank preliminary. One note, on an embossed “House of Commons” letterhead, is 
dated March 19, 1866, the other is dated 10/12/83.     $600.00 (trade discount
