BARNUM, P. T. AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED (ALS). Bridgeport, CT: 15
Sept. 1873. A short but interesting aviation-related one-page letter
on a larger sheet folded in half (5" x 7-1/2") addressed Dear Sir to
E. G. Judson: "I had already opened a correspondence with European
Aeronauts on the subject, and [?] this day announce in the Bridgeport
Standard that I shall if necessary offer $50,000 early next year in
accomplishing the feat if it is not done the present autumn." SIGNED
"P. T. Barnum." We do not know what aeronautics feat Barnum had in
mind and if it ever was accomplished at the time; certainly it had to
border on the fantastic for its time. Normal creases from folding.
Fine $1500.00
