48 p. xxxvi pl. Illus. with 36 b/w plates with letterpress 
tissue-guards. Folio (38 cm). Full pebbled tan calf, gilt rules and 
fillets to boards, raised bands, six compartments with gilt titles 
and rules, elaborate inner gilt dentiles, top edge gilt, marbled 
endpapers.
   
Thomas George Baring (1826-1904), 1st Earl of Northbrook, was Viceroy 
of India and later First Lord of the Admiralty in Gladstone's 
administration. His copy with his bookplate on the front pastedown. 
RLIN & OCLC show only 7 copies.

A very good copy, spine rubbed at the extremities, corners rubbed, 
wear to upper front corner, lower edge rubbed, binding tight, leaves 
crisp and clean. A handsome copy.   [26447] $500.00
