TRUMAN,  Harry. TYPED LETTER SIGNED (TLS) with humorous  content.
Independence,  MO:  5 Oct. 1957. On personal letterhead to Hy  Gardner
of  the NEW YORK HERALD TRIBUNE. In full: "Dear Hy: I got quite a kick
out  of your letter of the 1st. The Conn people installed an organ  in
the  Library  and I had their man here show me how it worked.  I  have
had  no  offers of any kind to play the organ on a T.V. show,  or  any
other  place, and I wouldn't do it, if I had. You should know that  by
this  time. It is always a pleasure to hear from you and I get a  kick
out  of your questions. Sometime when you are going by this way,  I'll
give  you the dollar and a half tour thru the Library for nothing, but
I  will  make an agreement with you first, that you not talk about  it
afterward,  and  that will probably spoil your trip. Sincerely  yours,
Harry  Truman."  Fine  letter showing Truman's sense of  humor.  Faint
