MARITIME HISTORY SERIES).
London: Macdonald and Jane's, (1974). Reprint, Hardcover, Octavo, xiv, 466 
pages, black & white photographs, illus.. Very Good in a Good Dust Jacket, 
Jacket in Mylar protector.
      Nice reprint of the classic 1932 edition. Illustrated narrative 
history of the ships and small craft of Penobscot Bay, Maine, and the 
immense shipments of lumber they handled out of the Penobscot River. For 
three quarters of a century this commerce equaled or excelled that of the 
better known whaling industry. Includes Lincoln Colcord's record of vessels 
built in the area. Bound in dark blue cloth over boards with decorative 
paper sides, spine titled in gilt, vertical gilt rule on upper board, light 
blue topstain and endpapers. Spine slightly fallen in toward head, minor 
extremity wear, bumps to top fore corners of boards. Jacket has rubs, 
wrinkles, and short tears at spine ends and corner tips. Rear panel of 
jacket has a 2 1/2" by 1 1/2" patch of surface layer lifted off, but no text 
loss.    $50.00
