Indian lands by the English by stating that "To barbarous tribes, who 
stand as low in the scale of humanity as the Pequots and 
Narragansets, the Wampanoags or the Nipmucks, who live by hunting and 
fishing, with scarce anything that can be called agriculture, and 
wholly without arts, the removal from one tract of country to another 
is comparatively easy."

Wraps. 8vo. [24 pgs] Very good. General Sullivan commanded 5,000 men 
to take revenge against the Indians and the Tories for the massacre 
the previous summer. Sullivan defeated the Indians at Newton. The 
Indians fled to the British garrison at Niagara.Wraps a little worn

Robertson was the governor of Virginia, 1836-1837. Small pamphlet 
with list of family names tipped-in, attached to photograph frontis 
which is loose. Includes Commendations and Family nomenclature.

Pamphlet. 3/4 green leather with green cloth on boards, gilt rules 
and design, five raised bands with gilt rules, lettering and 
compartmental designs at spine; marbled end-papers; teg. Tattered 
remains of original wrappers bound-in. 8.5" x 4.75". [196 pgs] Near 
fine. Beautifully bound. Scarce reprint (1893) of the 1828 edition, 
with the omitted infamous Chapter 27, and original wrapper.  Previous 
owner's attractive bookplate at paste-down with black leather 
insignia labels at boards. Front cover of wrapper is split, but 
present.  Earlier bookseller's ad for this book, tipped-in. Contents 
are clean and tight. An excellent history of the Indian Wars of New 
England, written by the first president of the University of Vermont.
