[Book: Manchurian Interest]
Report of the Commission of Enquiry of the League of Nations signed at
Peiping September 4, 1932. Shanghai: Chung Hwa Book Co. Ltd, Oct 1, 1932
Soft blue printed wraps. 10.5 x 7.5 inches. 272 pages PLUS 14 fold-out maps
and accompanying Legends, NOTICE in the book: “Attached is a complete set
of the first reproduction (without colors) of Maps prepared for the Report
of the Commission, together with Indexes and Legends. These reproductions,
as well as the printed Indexes and Legends, were prepared prior to final
checking and correction of the originals, and to the final revision of the
Report, and so are not to be accepted as correct in all details.”

This item is very scarce with the maps intact. Covers are aged and lapped
edges are chipped, several closed tears. Text paper quality is poor and has
aged. Maps are on better paper and all in crisp condition save for the one
depicting Manchurian Railways, which was misfolded resulting in wear to
margins at top and fore edge. Several blank end papers have a tidal mark
along the bottom edge, no water damage to maps.

The chop and over signature of C.H. Chen is on the cover and title page,
presumably Churchill H. Chen who was a printer in San Francisco. The inner
signature is dated 1/11/32 (November 1, 1932). Included are two receipts
from the same time period, signed by Chen, one from the Hong Kong Hotel,
Bessie’s Bar; the other from Hong Kong Hotel Grill Room. Receipts in very
good condition.

Book and receipts together: $325.00
