Goullart worked on the border for the Chinese Industrial Cooperative
in the Province of Sikang which was annexed from the huge Tibetan
Province of Kham. "I was eagerly looking forward to meeting Tibetans
and staying at lamaseries, and making trips to the mysterious lands
such as the Kingdom of Muli and, perhaps, into the domains of the
Independent Lolos, those fierce tribesmen who for centuries defied
the might of the Chinese Empire and were immortalized in Chinese
literature as the most ferocious and ruthless warriors in the
world." Provides pictures of this little-known tribe and area.
A very good copy with some small nicks and tears to head and tail of
spine. [28506] $50.00
