THEORETICAL,  ECONOMICAL, AND SCENOGRAPHICAL. Claremont, NH: Claremont
Manufacturing  Co.  1861.  First Edition. Two quarto  (9"  x  11-1/2")
bound  in  library  buckram,  one in black and  the  other  in  brown.
Illustrated  with  38 plates and maps at the end of the second  volume
and  365  woodcuts in the text. A notable Vermont plate book  with  20
spectacular  lithographs of Vermont scenes, towns, resorts, etc. along
with  the large folding hand-colored Vermont map, geological maps, and
fossil  plates.  The  views were based on original drawings by  A.  L.
Rowson,  J. K. Rathbun, and Miss Hattie E. Reed and on photographs  by
C.  Miller,  A. F. Sykes, and C. I. Howe. They include Bellows  Falls,
Willoughby  Lake,  Summit House, Sutherland Falls, Moss Glen Falls  in
Stowe,  Brattleboro, several of Manchester, etc. Library bookplates on
front  pastedowns  marked "Withdrawn," white lettering on the  spines,
faint  ink  stamps on the bulked text edges of the second volume;  the
text  and  the  plates are free of any markings. Slight aging  to  the
paper;  one map with clean tear and separation; other minor tears here
and  there  to  the text. Very Good with gorgeous  views  of  Vermont.
