Signature at top of front cover of Anna Garlin Spencer, American 
reformer, minister & educator. She supported women's rights and the 
campaign to give women the vote, was Rhode Island's first woman 
minister, taught sociology, &c, and was the author of "Woman's Share 
in Social Culture" (1913.)  Du Bois and his associates concluded that 
Georgia's prison industrial complex was financed by the imprisonment 
of black males, who were subject to blatant discrimination by the
