from opposite coasts in World War II:

(No. 8623 )  [Carlson, Arnold A. (Editor)]. THE 1943 FLIGHT JACKET, MARK II
EDITION.
Pensacola: U.S.N. Air Training Center, [1943]. Full cloth, Folio, 227 pages
[+42 pages of ads], black & white photographs, color plates. Very good.
      World War II yearbook of the U.S. Naval Air Training Center, including
photographs, portraits of classmembers, activities, roster, etc. Numerous
cartoons featuring the hapless cadet Dilbert are scattered throughout the
advertising section. The Flight Jacket was discontinued for the duration of
World War II after this edition due to time constraints. MAWDSLEY, CRUISE
BOOKS #444. Bound in cream and brown textured cloth over boards with dark
blue lettering and decoration, illustrated endpapers. This copy shows bumps
to lower fore corner and heel of spine, other minor edge wear. Some slight
rubs to spine title. Binding sound, no hinge cracks.    $125.00

(No. 8599 )  [U. S. Navy]. THE HISTORY OF U. S. NAVY PRE-FLIGHT SCHOOL, ST.
MARY'S, CALIFORNIA.
St. Mary's College: [U.S. Navy], [1946]. Hardcover, Oblong Quarto, 216
pages, Black & White photographs. Good.
      History of the Navy's World War II pre-flight training school
established at St. Mary's College outside of San Francisco. The facility
operated under the Navy from 1942-1946. Future U.S. President Gerald R. Ford
coached football here in 1945. Numerous photographs showing activities,
staff, sports teams, scenes around the campus, etc. MAWDSLEY, CRUISE BOOKS
#711. Bound in dark blue leather-textured paper over boards with upper board
lettered and decorated in gilt, decorated endpapers, color title page
illustration. Upper board is bowed, bottom 1 1/2" of spine is chipped away,
joints are rubbed. Interior is clean and sound.    $150.00
