repertorium, opera & singulari studio nobilis Joannis Baptista
Antonii .... Half-title: D. Antonii Gomezii opera omnia aucta, indice
generali adornata, et distincta duobus tomis.

Antonio Gomez (1501-1572), professor of law at the Universidad de
Salamanca, was perhaps the most important jurist of his time and was
part of the Spanish legal school -including Francisco de Vitoria,
Domingo de Soto, and Francisco Suarez- which attempted to reconcile
both human and natural law with the fundamental tenets of the
Catholic theology.

Scarce. OCLC and RLIN show only 6 copies of this early edition.

Bookplate of Michael J. O'Farrell, the first Bishop of the Diocese of
Trenton on the free front endpaper with an institutional bookplate
noting his gift of the book. Vellum soiled and spotted especially at
the edges, dampstain to fore-edge of title and one following leaf,
title leaf with a number of notations (mainly names) crossed through,
a small ink stain, and a 1/4 inch hole, inked volume notations to
upper margins which appeared trimmed, the rare marginal notation,
scattered foxing and toning, otherwise leaves quite clean. A nice
copy. [26652] $950.00
