11.  LEAR , EDWARD.  BOOK OF NONSENSE, A. New York: Miller, (1863). 
Illustrated by 111 fine chromolithographed plates. First American 
edition. Original green pictorial cloth gilt. Oblong 8vo. Very good. 
 From the tenth London edition. Rebacked with original spine 
laid-down. Original end papers with faint dampstain which very 
slightly affects next page, both front and rear. A few minor finger 
marks. No foxing. Bright and clean and tight inside and out.  $230.00

12.  MILNE, A. A.  NOW WE ARE SIX. London: Methuen & Co, 1927. 
Illustrated by Ernest H. Shepard. First edition. #63 of only 200 
large paper copies. Original quarter beige buckram over salmon paper 
boards. Printed paper label on front cover. Additional paper label 
tipped-in at rear pastedown. Retains the  original dust jacket. 
Signed by Milne and Shepard. Small 4to. [2, blank], x, [2], 103, [1, 
printer's imprint], [2, blank] pgs] Near fine/Very good. Bright clean 
copy with minor offsetting at first free endpapers. Previous owner's 
bookplate over another bookplate. Slight weakness in gutter at fifth 
signature. Tiny spot from glue at inner edge of page where 
bookseller's ticket was tipped-in. This ticket is now laid-in (Barnet 
B Ruder). The dust jacket is intact but faded and sunned at the 
spine. There is some edge chipping and two small tears. There is a 
light red stain on front panel, of dust jacket, perhaps from the 
propinquity of a red leather book.  $2500.00 {91941}

First American edition. 3/4 pink marble paper over blue cloth boards. 
Decorative Pooh paper label. Dust jacket  has a few chips and a mild 
dampstain along spine. 4to. Fine/Good-very good. Music by H.

14.  OUTHWAITE, IDA RENTOUL AND OUTHWAITE, GRENBRY.  ENCHANTED 
FOREST, THE. London: A & C Black, 1921. Illustrated by sixteen 
tipped-in color plates and fifteen b&w full page plates, decorated 
end-papers . First edition. Plaid paper covered boards with blue 
cloth back; pictorial title label pasted-down to front cover, gilt 
lettering at spine. 4to. [93 pgs] Very good. Previous owner's 
bookplate at end-paper.  Two color plates loose, but present. 
Corners of boards worn, with shelf wear to edges.  Spine cloth torn 
at front edge, approx 3" from the top.  Otherwise clean and sound.

15.  OVERTON, ROBERT.  NAUGHTY CHILDREN. London and New York: W. 
Hegelberg, ca.1880 . Illustrated by chromolithographs. heavy card 
stock, including leaves. 4 1/12 x 5" oblong. As New/Very good. 
Exquisite chromolithographs in the manner of Kate Greenaway and 
Walter Crane. Two of the poems are about "little nigger boys"  with 
typically racist pictures. This book retains its beige colored dust 
jacket with line drawings of a group of little girls, repeating the 
colorful image on the front board. The dust jacket has one small chip 
and a few short tears with no loss. Very scarce. <BR> <A

16.  SINGLETON, ESTHER.  WILDFLOWER FAIRY BOOK, THE. New York: Dodd, 
Mead and Company, 1905. Illustrated by Charles Buckles Falls with 
sixteen color plates and decorated end-papers and each of the 
contents pages are decorated with light green wildflowers. First 
edition. Olive green cloth with heavy gilt decorations and lettering, 
t.e.g. 8vo. [354 pgs] Fine. Gift inscription at ffep.  Nicely 
decorated inside and out, clean and sound.  $300.00 {91967}

17.  VERY, LYDIA. L.  RED RIDING HOOD. Boston, MA: L. Prang & Co, 
1863. Illustrated by chromolithographs. First edition. [16 pgs] Fine. 
Author (also illustrator) was sister to New England transcendental 
poet, Jones Very. Original shape book of Red Riding Hood.  Colors are 
bright, the book is clean and tight.  Said to be the first  American 
shape book. The front cover has a tiny (1/4") scrape on Red  Riding 
Hood's cloak. Rare juvenile. <BR> <A

Green cloth with pictorial onlay to upper board. Large 8vo. Charming 
book about the adventures of cats learning to be boy scouts. A few 
spots of soiling to pages, slightly bowed. Louis Wain was devoted to
