The Book Elves have been hard at it, skating and skiing, and nursing
bruised shins and bumped heads. But before they decided to try to sculpt a
replica of the set of Cecile B. Demille's "Cleopatra" from snow in the
front yard, they finished another set of books for our latest "Just
Catalogued" offerings.

    - New Catalog -

"Recent Acquisitions For January - February, 2006" is now ready, and going
into the mail. The catalog is also on our website-
<http://www.joslinhall.com/justcat.htm>
but if you'd prefer a hard copy, please send us your mailing address.

This month's selection includes an array of books on furniture, silver,
ceramics, glass and other decorative arts, as well as a smattering of other
odd stuff, with highlights including-

* A beautiful and early (1863) copy of Arrowsmith's popular "Paper-Hanger's
Companion".

* A nice copy of Ashdown's 1919 history of the Company of Glaziers and
Painters of Glass, inscribed by Past Company Master George Paget Walford.

* A nice copy of the scarce 1969 Art Deco exhibition catalog "The Jazz
Age", which was based largely on Martin Battersby's collection.

* The 1860 catalog to the 3rd Exhibition of American paintings held at the
Young Men's Association in Troy, NY.

* A Deluxe copy of George Francis Dow's 1927 "Arts & Crafts of New
England", one of 97 copies printed on rag paper and bound in
batik-patterned covers.

* Two very interesting French books published in 1914 on the feather industry.

* A copy of Feulner's 1929 "Historic Interiors in Color" with the ownership
stamp and signature of noted New York set designer Joseph B. Platt, who was
the Interior Art Director for 'Rebecca' and also worked on the interiors
for 'Gone with the Wind'.

* A nice copy of Heal's 1925 "London Tradesmen's Cards of the XVIII
Century", one of 100 copies specially bound in half vellum for members of
the First Edition Club.

* Several scarce early 19th century books on gilding & painting.

* Nice copies of Jane Ellen Panton's very scarce books "From Kitchen to
Garret" and "Nooks and Corners", splendid descriptions of how to run a
Victorian middle class household.

* Franklin Hough's magnificent 1865 "Washingtoniana, or, Memorials of the
Death of George Washington, Giving an Account of the Funeral Honors Paid to
His Memory, with a list of tracts and volumes printed upon the occasion,
and a catalogue of medals commemorating the event", limited to 291 sets.

* A beautiful copy of James Walter's infamous 1887 hoax, "Memorials of
Washington and of Mary, His Mother, and Martha, His Wife, from Letters and
Papers of Robert Cary and James Sharples", our copy with the book ticket of
Grenville Kane, the noted book collector who helped introduce the Tuxedo to
America.

* and much, much more!
