MAUGHAM, W. Somerset THE RAZOR'S EDGE
Doubleday Doran Garden City 1944.  The true First Edition published on 18 April 
1944.  The First American Trade Edition was published two days later, and the 
First English Edition was not published until July 1944.  Number 229 of 750 
numbered copies SIGNED by the author of this modern classic.  Issued without a 
dustwrapper but with a slipcase.  Made into a film in 1946 starring Tyrone Power 
and again in 1984 starring, surprisingly, Bill Murray as the main character in 
quest of the meaning of life.  Owner signature dated 1947 on the front pastedown 
with an inscription to the same person by another on the front endpaper; slight 
separation at gutter before limitation page.  Typical sunning to the spine, a 
little on the dark side, the black leather spine label intact with strong gilt 
lettering.  Small waterspot on front cover, smaller than a dime.  Slipcase 
intact but with usual splits.  Very Good or better in a Good slipcase.  $2000.00
