inner hinge tender. Unusual with hand-colored frontis etching (5-3/4
x 3-1/2 inches) on heavy paper of Jackson's engagement at New Orleans
8 January 1815, after Morgan; old inscriptions of two former owners
on verso and two small owners stamps on front and rear endpapers.
Library stamp at bottom of title page and fore-edge, card pocket on
rear free endpaper and shelf number penned on rear cover. Some toning

spiral-bound as issued. Illustrated covers slightly soiled and
corners rubbed. Profusely illustrated with black & white photographs
and maps. Coastal Connecticut and Rhode Island were especially
hard-hit by this enormous storm, which killed 682 persons. Library
bookplate, blind stamp on front free endpaper, small label on rear
board and pocket removed at rear. RLIN and OCLC between them locate
only four copies. SCARCE. $150.00

(approximately 12-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches) in original publisher's cloth
with original wrappers bound in. Indexes. Lightly edge-rubbed, small
abrasion on end of spine of Volume 2, which has weak inner joints.
Twenty-six numbers in all; Volume 2 seems rather scarce. Among
contributors were Robert Frost ("Death of the Hired Man" appearing
about a month before its appearance in the 1st US edition of "North
Boston,") Randolph Bourne, Ford Madox Ford, Walter Lippmann, George
Santayana, Rebecca West, Richard Aldington, Padraic Colum, Floyd
Dell, John Dewey, Amy Lowell, Jacob Zeitlin, et al. Editors included

longevity, together with directions for the application of water,
air, exercise, and diet, to all the various diseases with which
mankind are afflicted." Includes numerous articles on womens' dresses
(spinal distortion through use of stays and corsets, posture, &c)
advice on treating accidents and emergencies (with use of water) such
as burns, adder-bit, fainting, &c. "Cases in Water-Cure" by MD's
treating patients in the course of midwifery, pneumonia, miscarriage,
constipation, fever, cholera, &c., and testimonials of those who have
successfully completed water cures. Illustrations of anatomy,
physical therapy and education techniques, and reviews and
advertisements (with illustrations) of numerous water-cure

published. Steele's political paper took aim to denounce Lord
Sutherlands bill for limiting the power of creating peers. Steele's
once great friend Addison represented the opposing side in "The Old
Whig." This same squabble, which has always been at the heart of
Constitutional dispute in Great Britain, surfaced recently with
Labour's so called "reform" of the House of Lords. $135.00
