Albion, Robert G. NEW YORK AND ITS RIVALS, 1815-1860. np: Journal of
Economic and Business History. 1931. 602 - 629 pp. 8vo. Stapled paper
wrappers. Offprint. Reprinted from the Journal of Economic and
Business History, Volume III, Number 4, August 1931. Boston,
Baltimore, and Philadelphia vied with New York for leadership in
commerce but New York won, mainly due to its trade with the South.

photographer, who opened his studio in 1896 and provided panoramas,
artistic photographs, and city views, and American Studio, a large
producer of postcard images. A very good copy with a bit of soiling

author attached. Albert Goldman was the postmaster of New York City
through the 1950's. Includes a photograph of the world series at
Yankee Stadium (nd). While the item is undated it makes reference to
the soon to return soldiers from W.W.II. Scarce. RLIN and OCLC show
copies at NYU, NYPL, Bronx Bot. Gardens, NY Hist. Soc. Two tears to

Stapled self wrappers. First edition. A delineation of the
substantial list of charges against Walker signed by Fred W.
Hinrichs, Joseph J. Timmes, George Boochever, Frank L. Tyson, Thos.
B. Cullen, Edward I. Cullen, and James E. Finegan. At this time the
noose was closing in on Jimmy Walker, Mayor of New York. The
Hofstadter hearings were uncovering gross corruption. when this call
to Roosevelt, who was in the midst of seeking the Presidential
nomination, was issued. Finegan, the main author of this indictment,
written before the Seabury report (and the author the following year
of Tammany at Bay) would join with Seabury and William Schieffelin in
bringing charges against Walker at the Albany hearings before
Governor Roosevelt in August. Scarce. OCLC shows only one copy at the
NYPL. A very good copy, small tear on lightly soiled rear wrapper,
