Title printed in red & black and with a large woodcut coat-of-arms. Woodcut 
headpieces and capitals. BOUND WITH (as published): INDEX LIBRORUM PROHIBITORUM 
Alexandri VII, Pontificis Maximi Jussu Editus... Rome: Ex Typographia Rev. 
Cam. Apost. 1667. 304pp. Title printed in red & black and with an engraved 
allegorical vignette. Both parts bound in 19th cent. 1/2 black morocco, gilt, over 
dark blue cloth, some minor rubbing of extremities. Bookplate on front

The most complete 17th century edition of “The Index of Prohibited Books.” 
Both imprints are fictitious, both works probably having been printed in Lyon
